I had a really positive first lesson with my lab today, Steve is a lovely approachable guy who made me and the dog feel at ease straight away, I was nervous to go but there was no judging or Making me feel embarrassed for previous training mistakes we’ve made and bad habits we’ve installed instead he just gave honest and instantly effective advice and training techniques, really looking forward to further training.

So glad we found you

I have found Breckland Gundog training to be a wonderful place for my dog and I to learn all the skills needed to have a balanced gundog. As well as the usual sit, heel, stay and other general obedience, I have learnt to use different training more specific to gundog training. These include stop whistle, blind retrieves, stop from distance, directional retrieves and also the use of dummy launchers to give the dogs and handlers an insight to a shoot scenario. Steve is a very knowledgeable trainer, who can read handlers and dogs exceptionally well, depending on the level of experience they have had. Bertie and I have learnt so much and really enjoy the excellent service we are given. So glad we found you Steve!??

Wish we had started with Steve 9 months ago!

Great place to take your dog for Gundog training. Steve gives clear, concise instructions and always sets the dog up for success, which gives the handler the confidence to continue training in between classes. It has been great to watch all the dogs on our course progress and personally we have been able to take one of our dogs on a shoot this season. Wish we had started our Gundog training 9 months before we did! Definitely recommend Steve and Breckland Gundog Training!

Gundog Traininf for Beginners

The beginners Gundog Training was great fun and also well-planned so that there is gradual and successful skill development for both the dogs and their handlers. Fynn and I really enjoyed our mornings in Steves’s class - as well as having a good time with knowledgeable, cheery, and friendly people, we’ve both learned a lot. It is so good to have training geared towards the instincts already there in Fynn’s breeding. It makes for a happy dog and therefore a very happy owner - what could be more worthwhile? I’d highly recommend these classes for the inquisitive handler as they provide a great insight and a excellent level of fun! we can’t wait for more upcoming classes!

Training that makes sense!

Bella and I have been having 1-1 Gundog Training lessons for over a year now and we cannot recommend Steve highly enough. We have had lessons on Obedience, Retrieves (both memory and blinds) working with both dummies and real game, Directional control and Water Work. We are now looking forward to our first season Picking Up and also entering some Gundog Working Tests too.

Training that really works!

I can't recommend Steve enough! My lovely, but challenging cocker spaniel has been coming to class for some time. Having owned spaniels for over 30 years this dog is the one who nearly broke my love for the breed. After a couple of 121 classes, in addition to the group lessons we have finally found what works for him. He is now a different dog! After a couple of hours with Steve I now have a dog that doesn't jump up at people, mouth, sits, but most importantly walks nicely on a lead, all with love and respect. Steve has a genuine love of dogs and training If you are not sure just come to one of the classes and see him work with people, and of course the dogs.

It's like taking an entirely different dog for a walk

My Lab had been attending reward based / force free training with another trainer for over a year - with no discernible results. He still had little or no recall and was a nightmare to take for a walk. Having found Breckland Dog Training via Google (and having read the reviews!) I booked an initial consultation with Steve, followed by a series of 1:1 sessions. From the first session the difference in my dog was marked, Steve changed the collar I was using and advised against using a harness. 6 months on (and after a lot of 'homework') I have a dog with solid reliable recall who doesn't chase after other dogs or deer, pheasants, rabbits etc. He is an absolute pleasure to go on a walk with now - the nightmare is over and it's thanks to Steve. He listens to what your dog-related problems are and has the knowledge and expertise to address them with what works best for both you and your dog. Thank you Steve!

Very Knowledgeable Trainer

I had been going to a local trainer who 'trains' gundogs, and was not very pleased with how we were progressing, and had some reoccuring issues with some aspects of our training. Fast forward to meeting Steve, those aspects I was struggling with were sorted within the hour and I could understand where I was going wrong and how to prevent them going forwards. Very straight talking and knowledgeable trainer who takes time to understand your problems, Highly recommended, thank you Steve
